Description

This luxurious and rare table clock is the essence of Art Deco style. Retailed at the renowned J. E. Caldwell & Co., this exceptional timepiece is comprised of a French clock movement. Guilloché enameling in the most luxurious azure color covers all panels of the case. Its waves radiate from single focal points, such as the cabochon hardstone actuator. Diamond-studded silver filigree hands indicate the time with Roman numerals and pristine white enamel frames each panel. Accompanied by its original gold embossed, velvet-lined leather case and set upon a hardstone base, this clock is a sumptuous reminder of a bygone era.

Venerable American jeweler J. E. Caldwell & Co. from Philadelphia is known for its Art Nouveau and Deco jewels. One of the oldest fine jewelers in the United States, the company was founded in 1839 by James Emmott Caldwell and supplied wealthy Philadelphians with stylish European jewelry, silver, and objets d’art. The store itself was a study in opulence, with hand-cut Baccarat chandeliers and French Regency-style oak cabinetry designed by Horace Trumbauer and Julian Abele.
